too intense for little kids

I went with my 6 year old son. I didn't notice that it was PG and not G rated. We were looking for a fun Disney flick and found depressing and harrowing situations one after another. He says that he will not buy the DVD. In addition, the sound system was much too loud, causing discomfort to my son. I personally found it an interesting story that looked like it was derived from aspects of Disney theme park rides and will morph neatly into another spiffy ride. Wouldn't recommend it to my friends. To some acquaintances though, perhaps. Doesn't compare to Aladdin or Lion King in our book.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
