Why the darkness???

My daughter is 4 and while she enjoyed the majority of it she got upset at the "evil" scientist guy when he captured the bird and lit the house on fire. Also, why do dogs have to be portreyed so mean. I thought the story line was cute and enjoyable for the adults and had enough interesting things to keep kids of all ages interested. I liked how the character's personalities developed throughout the movie. I would recommend to a friend but would caution them on the dark parts.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
