Would have been an excellent pilot

This reboot of the Star Trek franchise would have been pretty good for a first episode of a new Trek TV Series, but as a feature film, I was VERY disapointed. The first 20 minutes were far too cliche for the calibur of writers involved in the project. Also, I loved the early development of the new Bones, then they just let the character lie there for final 1 hour plus. The special effects are excellent, the characters are intriguing, if under-developed. The tatooed Romulans are a bit much, though. Too much pop, not enough sustenence.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Land of the Lost

Considering the camp of the source material, movie-goers shouldn't have high expectations going into this big screen adaptation. With that in mind, Land of the Lost is a fun film with several laugh-out-loud moments, though it is disjointed in its pacing. Purist fans of the series will likely be unhappy with changes made to the main characters, especially to Enik and the Zarn, who have seen their roles reversed. The updates to (Rick) Marshall, Will and Holly, are apropos for the plot, eliminating the familial connections for comical effects and an understated love story between Rick and Holly. The film looks very nice and the effects are excellent. Good matinee fair, but don't pay full price.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
