Cool. Quick editing bounces you in and out of scenes and partly viewed places, giving you sudden movements and glimpses of characters and actions to reveal the urgency of getting to safety basically. Denzel is Denzel perfect. Ryan R is tough enough to handle what's thrown at him. Somewhat predictable plot but action, locations, editing, acting, all good enough to make it a great 2 hour ride.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Loved the book so apprehensive about the movie adaptation. They nailed it! Main characters came to life from the pages. Sets, locations, mood, rawness, ACTING, editing, lighting.....no disappointment on any level. Could have watched the whole trilogy at once! Mara Rooney deserves every award this year. Bravo!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Scorsese gives us a gift

I go to see a Scorsese film because it IS a Scorsese film. He is one of the true filmmakers in our lifetime that DOES deliver the essence of every component, creative and necessary to the craft of filmmaking. HUGO is nothing short of genius... a great layered story with impeccable visuals, sound, editing, perfect casting, location, and magical beauty that all ages can enjoy. The history of film is now embedded forever in one of our own generational films and that is a true gift. And FYI, every child in our audience was as mesmerized and awestruck as the adults. It is sophisticated and playful and ageless. Thank you Mr. Scorsese.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
