A Huge Improvement

The dialogue and acting were still a bit lacking, and I wish there had been more action - hence the 4 stars.
However, that being said, I really enjoyed Eclipse. I thought it was a big improvement from the first two movies - the actors are growing into their roles and the dialogue is improving. There are some cheesy lines, sure, but people who are fans of the series will appreciate that because, let's face it, Stephenie Meyer uses some pretty cheesy lines.
Taylor Lautner is totally and utterly convincing as the boy who Bella *should* be with, making your heart break for Jacob when she chooses Edward. And I loved the addition of the conversation in the field at the end, where Bella explains that it wasn't a choice between the two men, but a choice between who she was and who she should be.
The action scenes were well choreographed and the wolf graphics, while not mind-blowing, were good. And as a personal member of "Team Jasper", I was very glad to see them work to include the side characters as well; I had worried that they would overwhelmingly focus on the love triangle and neglect the other characters' roles in the story.
I believe my 4-star rating is a solid representation of the movie. Overall it was a strong improvement to the first two movies, and they're headed in the right direction. Hopefully they'll continue to improve and I'll be able to give an unqualified 5-star review to Breaking Dawn.
