I never read the book so basing my opinion on the movie itself, I would say it was well made and the acting was great. besides hanks who always puts in a top notch performance, mcgregor adds to star power and does a fantastic job making the audience beleive the sincerity of his character. Without giving away the ending, it seems ron howard was able to mix hollywood and the church without offending your average moviegoer.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
