OK if you've read the book

My wife and I have both read the book and agree that the movie doesn't touch on a lot of what made the book good...having said that the movie is OK. Tom Hanks can definately be personable but this particular character translates onto the big screen dry/flat/one-dimensional (in my opinion anyway)... it's as if he's merely a tool for moving the plot along...
Yes, I recommend this movie.
