This is not a mindless cartoon

I wasn't sure how Miyazaki would translate onto the American screen, since we are so used to mindless violence and action heroes, I came expecting something unque and was not disappointed.
The story is mature, but understandable, even for my 8 year-old. The fanciful use of potions and "magic" is in keeping with most Disney fantasies.
This movie won't appeal to everyone. I would not recommend this for kids under 5 or for those who require constant action to hold their interest (that goes for adults too).
So if you are in for a beautifully animated and thoughtful story steeped in Japanese animation, this is a great flick.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
