It's a challenge to make a film [we all know the ending to] interesting but Luhrmann certainly pulled it off. Although the 3D format seemed odd it may have enhanced the visual grandeur of the excess. The actors gave very good performances (yes, even Tobey Maguire) especially Mulligan and Fisher. They made you feel irritated and disgusted, respectively, reactions from the viewer that can only be had through good acting. I had heard bad things from professional reviewers before seeing this May 12th and I was glad to have found the bad/mediocre reviews wrong.
Pros great story, great actors, great adaptation
Yes, I recommend this movie.
