Nice balance between staying true to original and updating for today's audience. Even little details like the phasers and uniforms were well done - updated yet retro.
Good movie for everyone, not just those of us who grew up on the original. PG13 is the right rating - lots of fighting, some s*xual references and Kirk (of course!) womanizing everywhere he goes - so parents be aware.
Effects were great, story was strong...character development was enjoyable. I'm sure there was tons I misssed on first viewing.
