FAKE IMAX — RIPOFF
Well, sorry to rain on the lavish-review parade (character development my a**), but the story was pedestrian and meaningless, and the trick used to get Leonard Nimoy into the film is *so* tired. If you like fist-fights and explosions, this is your flick. If you like your sci-fi with meaning and message, you'll be as disappointed as I was. Mindless entertainment, reasonably pleasant way to spend two hours, but pretty far below the marker set by Gene Roddenberry.
And yes, calling it IMAX at Emeryville is an expensive bait-and-switch. It's just a somewhat bigger screen. And the sound wasn't even very good. I want the extra money I spent expecting IMAX returned.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
