A leap of faith

As a from-the-beginning fan (9/8/66), this movie forced me to abandon a lot of what I knew and loved about Trek. I could mourn the loss of the 43-year-old canon all day (how stardates have radically changed, how Kirk's service record doesn't make much sense any more, how it is that Pike and Chekov are on the same ship, etc.), but the fact remains that this rebooted Trek is fresh, exciting, and has the potential for just as long a run as the "old" Trek enjoyed. (Can you see Pine & Quinto playing Kirk & Spock 40 years from now? I can!) Best of luck to the new franchise!
