SUPER COOL! This movie was fantastic. It was visually stunning and a fun ride. The story is not too complicated but very cool. I saw it on IMAX in 3-D, and that is certainly the way it should be seen. The effects and 3-D were the best I've seen since Avatar. Finally, computer graphics technology has advanced far enough to help do this story justice, which is fantastic considering the first movie was basically the first to ever use a significant amount of CGI.
Additionally, the sound and music quality is also very impressive. It all came together in an amazing, immersive experience.
Interestingly, there were a number of scenes that were purposely shot in 2-D to avoid having the effects distract you from the scene. All in all, it's a must-see on IMAX.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Lots of fun!

This was tons of fun and visually stunning. A++ on pure entertainment. Plenty of action & comedy and good character development for Spock & Kirk. Considering they had to cram a lot of story into one movie, they did well. I've been a fan of all things Trek since I was a little kid. I've seen all the movies and the spin-off TV shows. But, I'm not a "Trek purist". So, I'm not bothered too much by this update. There's a few things I wish would have stuck a little closer to the old show, but this reboot was needed to keep Trek from withering away. At least they try to explain the differences with it being an alternate timeline. I hope future movies are this exciting and have a compelling plot.
