This was my first time at the AMC Best Picture Showcase, and it was excellent! Loved the opportunity to see all of the nominated films at once with people who loved movies as much as we. My only criticism would be opportunities to get real food. When a series of films start at 10:45am, by the time the meal break rolled around at 5pm, we were a) a bit nauseous from all the popcorn and b) more than a bit peckish.
As for the films I saw - good films, but not all "Best Picture" quality, in my opinion. Of the five that we saw this day, only "The Hurt Locker" was of that quality. Up, A Serious Man, An Education and District 9 - while all good films, just weren't, in my opinion, Best Pictures.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
