Great Movie

This movie was one of the best I've seen - great special effects, great story, great characters. If you're even a casual fan of the original show, you will really appreciate the personality traits shown in the "earlier versions" of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scottie. And, if you haven't even seen any Star Trek shows before (hard to believe, but might be possible), you'll still think it's a great story and has great characters. I have to say that I was a little skeptical going in (and aside from Spock, thought the Next Generation crew was superior), but was totally won over in the early minutes. One of the VERY FEW movies that I would actually entertain the thought of paying to see again in the theater.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
