This was a GREAT movie. The cinematography and special effects were incredible. The 3D did add a lot to the movie's effects, however I did find it occasionally distracting and with the 3D glasses it did seem a bit dark.
The story was very good and I liked how they kept true to the original story but added a bit of a twist to it. Without spoiling anything, this was NOT the original story remade for a new generation, and I really liked that.
Overall it was an excellent movie. Again the visual effects were great. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star rating is because I did feel as though with the 3D it was a bit dark.

Not Your Parent's Star-Trek

I went to the theater thinking this was going to be a prequel to the television series, I was wrong. The movie was action packed with a bit of humor injected into the movie in a way that Star-Trek fans will appreciate and likely be the ones to pick up on the subtlety of that humor. I thought the casting was great and all the actors were very true to their predecessor's characters without imitating them. There may be a few disappointments to the die-hard Trekkies in the story line.I thought the movie was fantastic. Definitely a movie that I will own when it is released on Blue-Ray.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
