I haven't read the book but my companion had. I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was well made and it kept a good pace. The only place where it faltered was at the climax but I'll allow dramatic license for that. My companion pointed out the differences between the book and the movie afterwards, which heightened my appreciation of the screenwriting.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
