being a long time long time trek fan, I have to admit I enjoyed the flick. The various treks have all used changes in time lines, but I'd have to say this was not one of the better time shift scenarios (see STTNG - "Yesterday's Enterprise" for the best). Also, the premises for progression through the ranks were somewhat ludicrous. The cgi effects were first rate, the acting was ok, and the cast (leonard nimoy not withstanding) was adequate eye candy. The action scenes were well staged, entertaining, and went off like lightning. Very few movies have been so obviously made to be the first in a series, which was slightly annoying. With a little luck, subsequent episodes will have some more substance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
