I was nervous about the 3D effects but they were wonderful. No gratuitus 3D. All very tasteful and not overdone. No 3D for the sake of 3D. It all was an enhancement of the movie. 2D movies are going to seem so bland now. Great story, great acting and many amazing concepts. It was a blast.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Enjoyable but choppy.

Hilary Swank, Richard Gere and Ewan McGregor were excellent in the movie but I would have expected nothing less. The movie had some interesting parts but was very choppy. I had a general knowledge of the story and would probably have enjoyed the movie more if I had known the story better. There really wasn't a good flow and I felt a little lost in places. I would save it for a rental.

Doesn't Disappoint

Being a long time Star Trek fan of the original TV series, I was a little apprehensive about a movie "prequel", a gimmick I don't usually care for. But this was done well, the story was excellent and so were the actors.
Long time fans will not be disappointed with the new actors playing the young characters. The casting was spot on.
Those not familiar with the franchise will be drawn in as well. Lots of action but a great story line. I look forward to sequels to the prequel!
