As I child I grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation, but had my fair exposure to the original series as well. I enjoyed the other films and their characters were amusing. This film, however, took everything to a whole new level. The cast did a phenomenal job with picking up the idiosyncraties and character puns used by the original cast, and added a new and youthful flair. J.J. Abrams' directing was fantastic, and the effects rivaled any Sci Fi film you can put in the ring. I went into the movie with high expectations and was quite surprised when they were exceeded-in the opening sequence! Definitely a movie for Trekkies and avid movie watchers alike!
