Very simple movie, in retrospect I would have rather seen the Decendants, the Grey, or the Girl with the Dragon tattoo.
A second issue worth commenting on is that the AMC Studio 30 is the primary theater we visit. I ordered tickets to the Fork and Screen , so the movie wouldn't be sold out when we got there. The tickets were $24 for two of us, $26 with the online fee.I have a Moviewatcher card (the old customer loyalty card, that was free), that card used to waive the $1 online ticket fee. AMC has changed their customer loyalty program so that what used to be free as a customer loyalty incentive has been taken away. AMC also used to provide a small voucher along with the tickets for the Fork & Screen, and they stopped doing that as well, We had a burger, a salad, a beer, and water for $32.
We like AMC's theaters, but the new management team thinks they can nickel and dime customers and they won't notice.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Who was the Casting Director?

Angelina's role was written for a man in the original script. Although she's a great actress, the movie would have been better had Matt Damon or a Jason Bourne type actor had been cast in the role. This was a date night movie, because my wife wanted to see Angelina, but she tunes out when there's too much action and the plot gets overly complicated. The movie was enjoyable, and worth seeing, but it didn't deliver the thrills of Bourne Identity.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Surprisingly Good

I went into the theater not know what to expect. My hope was that it wasn't as grisly as Ninja, a very gruesome movie with gratuitous gore. I thought the use of gore in the film was fine, nothing I had to turn away from, and I was able to enjoy the movie. I thought it was well written, well acted and one of the best sci-fi movies I've seen recently.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not as Good as Bourne

I liked the movie. The film and acting were well done. However, the plot was simple. You can pretty much tell what the movie will be about by the trailer. I was expecting a little bit more from the film, but if you're a Matt Damon fan it's worth seeing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

An Intellectual Jigsaw Puzzle

I typically go to action or sci-fi movies, so a psychological thriller was different for me. The movie held my attention, and was interesting. It was more of an intellectual ride of trying to put the story together, than admiring movie technology. There were a lot of flashbacks and jumping forward to the present moment, with the added twist of being located at a sanitarium. There was a lot of information given and the audience has to put all the pieces together to figure out the details of the entire storyline before you reach the end of the movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

For my taste it moved a bit slow, and the plot was a bit spotty.. I took my wife with me and she enjoyed the movie as well. I think the film editing cost this movie an extra star.

Good for a Date Night

My wife picked this movie. It was recommended to her by her sister who also saw it with her husband. We both enjoyed the movie, but while I thought it to be good, she thought it was one of the best movies she's seen. The acting was good, the plot kept things moving, and it was beautifully filmed. We both had a few laughs and it was a great date night movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Mad Max Meets Pale Rider

This was an excellent post apocalyptic film that had mild biblical undertones. Although the film was not black and white, you could see the directors took care to make the film feel like it was in a future where the world had been though a cataclysmic event: cities were gray, there was no grass, the sun was bright and colors were faded and monochromatic. The set designers did a great job. The Book of Eli touched lightly on what would happen to society if the rules of civilization were forgotten, or remembered but corrupted by a power hungry dictator; it was fairly subtle but made the film more interesting if you noticed the sub plots. The sound track was excellent, and Denzel and Gary were very strong in the film. It was good flick!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was a wonderful experience. It was piece of art. Avatar created an amazing, and beautiful world full of full of colorful plants and interesting trees, but inhabited by dangerous creatures that were lethal to the human invaders who pursued the moons mineral wealth at any cost. See this in 3D.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

If you're used to the traditional martial arts movie this wasn't it. The genre was blended with the horror genre and had graphical disections of heads, torsos and, lots of blood splatters, pretty disgusting really. I stuck with it, but if I was an investor would have removed the several of the horrific graphics to make the movie have a wider appeal. It could have been a better movie, I would not recommend this to a friend.
