Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince succeeds with lighting action and a thrilling story about the-boy-who-lived in his sixth epic year at Hogwarts! This is a well made film, don't get me wrong, but a plethora of scenes are left out making the bestselling book a whole lot better in comparison. The movie not only leaves out scenes, but it also leaves out the emotion that we all knew and loved from the first few 'Potter' films. This was still a good film, but it won't succeed overall as the best of the 'Potter' films.
'Forrest Gump' styled with hilarious jokes and humor describe this year's 'Borat', 'Bruno'! However, this movie contains content or material that is quite inappropriate for most audiences. This is a fine film, yet will not be number 1 in the box office for the week.
This was one of the most amazing thriller and suspense movies ever made. John Travolta was an interesting criminal and Denzel Washington played as a puzzled subway coordinator. The cast fell right into their characters and did such a wonderful job. Some may find this better or worse than the original. But either way, 'The Taking of Pelham 123' is one of the best crime-dramas made this year!
Based on the New York Times Bestseller, Nick Cassavetes, who directed 'The Notebook', films Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Joan Cusack in this year's most touching film, 'My Sister's Keeper'. This is just like the book and it has wonderful actresses and actors in the cast. This film may have a good spot in the next Academy Awards event. You never know. I believe that this film will be in theaters for a long time due to its popularity and its touching story.
I had no idea what Sam Raimi had in store for this film. This movie confuses the audience and scares them at the same thing. The acting in this film was poor, which was comparable to the storyline. Horror films are losing the scare, however, because the same stories and plots are being used for no reason at all. I recommend that you do not see this. if you have an urge to see it, rent it.
Some may dislike Hugh Jackman, while others will dislike the special effects, while others may dislike the director. But none of that really matters anymore. When 'X-Men' first appeared on the big screen, the live-action Marvel superhero series took audiences away with its amazing storyline and its astonishing visual effects. 'X-Men 2', though, had a different story which made the viewers get on the edge of their seat every time the claws arrived. The third installment in the series brought the 'X-Men' to a close. Yet it only lasted a couple of years! This movie will thrill you until the final second. You don't have to like Hugh Jackman to like this......
'The DaVinci Code' was an interesting film......not the one I would prefer. 'Angels and Demons' was a book that was the sequel to 'The DaVinci Code'. When Tom Hanks returned to the screen, I was excited. Ron Howard directed this movie and did a fine job, but not one I would enjoy. The cast and crew who made this movie, in my opinion, made this movie because the care more about Demons than Angels. Overall, this film was so-so. Not great. I do recommend watching the predecessor, 'The DaVinci Code' instead, and/or before you see 'Angels and Demons' Ok, but not my favorite suspense and thriller movie of the year.
Disney's Pixar made 'UP', a wonderful, laughable, and successful animated motion picture! It seems to appeal to most ages......this was better than almost all the other animated pictures of the year. Usually Pixar makes movies just for the money and they try and get a movie out every 6 months. But Disney really earned the money sent to the beautifully filmed picture. If you go to see this movie, try to see it in 3-D. Either way, this movie is one of the best films off the year!
What were we expecting to see......a spoof to 'Jurassic Park'? That's what Ferrell made us think. A very crude, stupidity-filled picture best describes 'Land of the Lost'. Not plausible and not fun. Ferrells' career fell down the drain on this one.
'Night at the Museum' ended just fine. There was no need for a sequel, but apparently to 20th Century Fox, they did need a sequel. But to tell you the truth, this wasn't half bad. Ben Stiller and other actors and actresses came back from the first one, including there were some new characters as well! The story, however, wasn't that comparable to the first film, and so do not be upset of little plot development. This movie will still give you a good laugh, and, if seen in theaters, will have been pretty enjoyable.
