Fabulous for we who have watched Star Trek from the beginning (back then we didn't know it was cheesy - thought it was cutting edge)! I loved the numerous references that we long-time fans could catch and am willing to look past those small things that don't quite jive with the previous shows/movies (spock's mom...). I especially appreciated seeing Pike in a wheelchair at the end as I just saw "The Cage" the other night.
Keep it up and I'll be there for the sequels!!!
Only caveat - if seeing in IMAX (which I recommend!), sit near back of theater and you might want to take noise-cutting earplugs if your theater insists on blasting the sound.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
