if you're going to this movie for the "woodstock" experience, you're missing the point. this is the story of the guy who brought woodstock to white lake, ny. it's touching, funny, and gentle. based on the true story (memoir), it is fun to watch him come to terms with himself, his family, and his place in the world.
The difference between a movie and a book is that a book describes what happens and a movie shows you what happens. The movie tries too hard to be a book and fails as a movie. Unfortunately, in an attempt to please book fans, this movie really attempts to bring all of the elements of the book into it. It fails at doing that (the book is too long) and then fails at being a successful movie. It seems to simply be a bridge between the last movie and what is to come... and it is a long bridge (coming in at over two and a half hours).
