After reading the other reviews, my opinion of the average movie-goer has declined considerably. The first movie was okay, but this movie was pathetic.
The only good thing about it is that as a kids movie it did entertain my kids (and apparently also the people with kid-like intelligence). I don't think anyone actually wrote this moive. Worst movie I've seen in a long time.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Good for the kids and us too

My three kids all liked the movie, and I must say that I liked it much better than many of the recent animated films. Pixar/Disney have the habit of beating you about the face and neck with the "moral" tale they are trying to tell. I find it to be on the verge of offensive sometimes.
Dreamworks on the other hand, tells a really good story, with plenty of humor, and lets the morallity stay an undertone.
This movie is entertaining, warm, and not too long. By contrast, I think nearly every Pixar movie should have the sappy 20 minutes in the middle removed, then they too could be good.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
