I was skeptical going into this movie at just how good it was going to be. 30 minutes into it however, I was hooked and drooling for more!
This is a great prequel that is it's own story yet lends lots of insight into the original alien series.
Great movie and worth the watch!

I expected a lot out of this movie and was completely disappointed after seeing it. Poor edits, too much drawn out suspense and obnoxious audio made me wish I had gone seen Wolfman again. At least that movie made me laugh because of the terrible acting -- Shutter Island just put me to sleep. I enjoy Scorsese's films but this one has to be his worst. It might be worth a DVD/Blu-ray rental but not worth the time in the theater. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go see something else. Rent this movie later.

First off - I would like to say that there are certain parts of the movie that are "entertaining". However the majority of the story is very slow, methodical, and down right boring. It's also too long. The editors could have removed about 40% of the middle and you wouldn't have missed a thing.
Overall it's OK. I would definitely wait to see it on DVD / Blu-ray.

One word. Incredible.
I'm not a Star Trek fan (in fact I use to think it was quite nerdy) but this movie was very badass. Great story flow, character development, and of course the action. The movie is 2 hours and some change but it goes so fast it feels more like 20 minutes.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
