The new Star Trek will please both fans and
non-fans alike. This film eschews much of the dogma that has bogged down the franchise in recent efforts focusing instead on reintroducing the classic characters that made up the original series while packing plenty of action for mainstream audiences who have neither the attention span nor the patience to wade through the usual scifi laced drama and dialogue.

While the time altering plot line might be confusing on the surface, it makes sense that Abrams would do this so that the characters can be free to develop in whatever way best serves the story. With this effort, Abrams has rejuvenated the Star Trek franchise.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
