Glad they didn't really change the old characters; we must realize an alternate timeline happened when the past was changed with Kirk's father's death, thus that changed the future happenings and dynamics of ALL the character's personalities, etc. All things to happen in the future are not going to be exactly as we older trekkies know. Who knows how the "alternate timeline" engine room, transporter beams, etc may look with that change in mind as well as relationship dynamics (like Uhura and Spock). You change the past and you change the future after that point. I'm ok with the change, the cast had great chemistry and the FXs were believeable. I'm looking forward for this cast to stay together and produce more movies ASAP!
