For a movie based on a video game, this is definitely one of the better ones. How the story began was quite good. I didn't like the plot advancement too much, as it felt really sloppy, and I felt that some characters do not have a good reason to be there. A good example is the crew of the Ostrich racing. As mildly entertaining Sheik was(the Ostrich promoter), his whole crew didn't really have the best reason to tag along with Dastan and Tamina to stop uncle Nizam and restore Persia from corruption, other than gold. For his crew member(using throwing knives) to go so far as to death to retrieve the dagger from Nizam just doesn't sit well for me. By the time Dastan returns in time before all the chaos happens, the Ostrich racing crew is left in the dust with no reappearances; as it should be according to how the dagger works, but not a great way to end a story imo. The idea of time travel is definitely refreshing especially in these new movies, but I feel that they could've utilized it better.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It's not too different from the first one, except for the fact being that it's dumber. The CG action was good, if not great, and is probably the only thing that's keeping it from me rating this movie below 3 stars. Dump any kind of use for logic when you watch this, otherwise you're going to have a lot of annoyances. The movie itself 'tries' to be smart, but when you try to acknowledge that it slaps you across the face. Sure, its Transformers, based on the animated series and toy action figures. That doesn't mean it has to have a terrible plot, cheesy comedy sketches, useless characters, many unfitting moments and a whole list of annoyances.
