Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This was a difficult movie to review. Although we are huge "Pirates" fans, we were a bit disappointed. Our kids still loved the movie, but it wasn't a "WOW" movie by any means. This film lacked the charisma that the previous movies offered. However, I was happy to see the character Jack Sparrow get back to his original character as was in the first movie. He was more stable and true to the character as he portrayed it in the first movie. The other actors were great and did a fantastic job with their characters, but the movie seemed to drag. Although there was a lot of action, the story line just didn't grab you and get you excited. I didn't feel any moments of tension or suspension and it was very predictable. A good movie, but not great.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Star Trek

My family has been huge Trekky fans for years! Even as a little girl, I enjoyed watching every episode with my Mom. By far our favorite of the Star Trek movies was Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan...but this year's Star Trek movie was a definite at the top of the list. The action is a guarantee sit on the edge of your seat experience, but more than that, the actors chosen to play the younger parts of the famed characters was well done! My only disapointment was that we didn't see more of Scotty! A great actor and what a great comedy relief, it would have been nice to see more of him. With a fantastic twist ending, I am hoping that movie makers decide to take this in a whole new direction and give us a fresh new series of movies!
