The first Sherlock Holmes movie was way better and is typical with a sequel, some aspects of this film seemed phoned in. On the plus side, there were a few comical moments and the female leads shine in their scenes. The movie was too long by about a half hour but overall, it will please both the men and women in the audience. At least you know what you're getting with a film like this. No thinking required.
I am a fan of the POTC series and Johnny Depp especially but this movie shows that you don't always need to keep going. Penelope Cruz was a nice addiiton and the story was easy enough to follow but all the effects were sort of played out. It's a decent rental but I'd say skip the full price theater ticket.
This is a great movie for both men and women so hopefully the guys won't be turned off by the title. The audience was cracking up from start to finish. Kristen Wiig is a comedic genius but Melissa McCarthy steals every scene she's in. This is a great night of fun!
The cast deserved better than this boring storyline. Hardly anyone in the theater was amused, including the men. Also, I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not but everyone looked like they were dipped in the fake tanning pool. It was extremely distracting. Save your money for anything else.
The story was cute enough and held the interest of my 4 year old nephew. The 3D version was nice because it highlighted the flaws on each gnome, making the chips and scratches that real garden gnomes would have stand out and give them more character. This is no Toy Story but good enough for a family afternoon movie.
This was a huge disappointment. I was bored but more importantly, so was my 4 year old nephew. Yogi was such a beloved character that this film does him no justice. Definitely skip it.
The movie has a nice message, some funny lines and inside jokes that only adults will catch. I took my nephew and all he kept saying was how long it was (it wasn't long at all but a sure sign of boredom). It's no Toy Story but it was worth seeing.
What a fun way to experience such a classic (yet, pretty awful) movie. "House on Haunted Hill" was a perfect set up for the guys and the two shorts before were so bad they were great. If you haven't been to one of the RiffTrax events, I highly recommend it. The entire audience was laughing and many applauded at the end. Fun night for all.
The movie was an Aaron Sorkin showpiece with his usual style oozing from the screen. I find the banter very distracting and forced but if it's your thing, you'll love this movie. The performances range from good (Eduardo) to awful (both twins) but the story is interesting enough to hold your attention.
This was the second RiffTrax event I've attended and I enjoyed them both. The guys do a terrific job and along with the actual movie they are riffing on, they included a couple shorts as well. If you ever laughed at a MST3K presentation before, you will love it.
