Chan and Smith did a great job of bringing back a classic, and making it their own. The acting is very good, the scenery is breathtaking, the martial arts choreography was excellent, and the story as heartwarming and positive as what Mr. Miyagi and Danielson gave us.
It's refreshing to have a movie that the whole family can enjoy that doesn't depend on 3D graphic animation to make it a superb visual treat, and with a story that is just good.
It's not a perfect movie, it is a little slow in places, and there are gaps (Did Dre's love interest pass her audition?). But this is a gem, and a great way to spend a couple of hours.
5 Shuriken...HI YA! This ninja bows in respect to the lady with the cobra, and Jackie Chan, and Jaden Smith!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a quirky show that is light hearted (especially considering the body count), and fun. The film does not take itself seriously, and you shouldn't either!
For a bit of fluff, or for women who are completely taken by lots of time with Ashton Kutcher shirtless, or men who are taken by Katherine Heigl in her bra, this is a must see. Otherwise, it's a silly bit of fun.
The plot is a is predictable, but the action is fun. It makes one appreciate actual neighbors (unless you are a paid covert killer). The framework of the romance is just enough to almost carry the story.
It is nice to see Tom Selleck again, even if in this film.
3 shuriken for a date night movie...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Okay, so this isn't a masterpiece, nor is it a sweeping epic...but it IS fun. A great way for a family to spend an afternoon or evening. Think Aladdin without the genie or singing. Good good guys, bad bad guys and some twists.
While some of the story was a little forced, and a little slow at times, and the internal logic a bit stretched occasionally, the movie is still watchable: action, romance, amazing alley and rooftop running, with a sprinkling of ostrich humor thrown in.
The acting is decent, and there are even moral lessons in the story. As for violence, well, it is from a video game, so of course some is to be expected. And as my eleven year old noted "the princess is pretty!"
3 1/2 to 4 shuriken on this one! Hi-yah!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
