Although I have only been to one convention and never have dressed up as any character, I have seen every movie, every episode of every series many times and would consider myself a closet trekie. In saying that I don't know how I feel about 40 years of plot being thrown out the window and now open to any direction future writers want to take. Now with an alternate reality anything is game i.e. Spock and Uhura hooking up, Vulcan being blown up, two Spocks skipping around the universe. I hadn't felt this frustrated since they killed Spock and then later killed Data and poor Data is still dead. I think I would rather let the franchise die as I know it than allow it to continue at the whim of whatever writers presume is needed at the time.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
