Great for Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike

This movie redefined the whole Star Trek universe from the ground up. It was action-packed enough to keep non-trekkies fully entertained, and loaded with enough "inside jokes" to keep all Trekkies rolling in their seats. When you go to see this movie, you've got to go in knowing it is a "set up" movie. This lays the groundwork for a whole new set of movies. As such, quite a bit of time is based on dealing with introductions, but they do it in a light-hearted fashion that makes you enjoy the introductory to the Enterprise crew.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
