First part of the movie is excellent, but it does drag in the middle as does the book. Don't feel bad about taking a bathroom or concession break in the middl.e
Pretty fun movie and the 3D works well. The humor and pop culture references don't seem as forced as Shrek the Third. It is only 90 minutes and young ones should be able to sit through this easily.
This isn't high art. There are lots of things being blown up and lots of one liners. Still, it delivers exactly what you'd expect. Pure popcorn fun. Also, the movie runs 2 hours. So, it doesn't drag on. Far too many movies of this type have been bloated and dragged out to 2 and half hours or longer. I could have done without the requisite love scene, but it doesn't ruin the film.
