I grew up with William Shatner as my idol on the original Star Trek series. I think they did any excellent job recreating the original characters without compromising either the old or new characters as they each took on their own personalities to an extent. The tie in to the old Star Trek through Leonard Nimoy was great and I loved who they chose to do "Space the final frontier..." I also liked the tie in to the original series through the popular lines they used in both. I could truly enjoy a new series with these new characters and I am 55 years old.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
