I am a diehard Star Trek fan, having grown up with ST:TOS and all the follow-on series. I have also read many of the books and listened to many audio books. So, I was watching to see how closely J.J. Abrahms was going to follow the "script".
For the most part, I enjoyed the movie and the actors in their leading character roles. I was a little disappointed at first because I had already read / listened to the two prequel books: "Best Destiny" and the original "First Contact" that chronicles the younger James Kirk and his father. However, once I watched the whole movie and understood it was an alternate timeline, then everything fit into perspective. This one is definitely a future keeper in my library.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
