This is a movie for two kinds of people, those that like action and mayhem, and those that like a good plot. Having said that, the plot becomes a bit sketchy half way through because we have to muddle through the real reason the action is happening in the first place. Once that's done, the action begins to make sense. For the sheer joy of seeing De Niro on the screen, just being De Niro (not a lot of dialog and kicking ass) it was fun.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I liked the trailer and thought this would be a great movie to get lost in, and let it go at that. At the last minute, I decided to catch the 3D version after watching an interview with one of the actors. So, I was prepared for just a good bit of mindless, good-vs-evil movie entertainment. I was not prepared for the visually stunning renditions of the scenes and the wonderful fight scenes as well as the realism of the vampires. Great movie.
Up front, the movie is about a situation that has a lot of people living in fear. Then, as the story unfolds, the entire movie takes a left turn and becomes a "WOW" machine for the audience. The events that unfold are awsome and take the movie to another level. The photography is terriffic and the interplay between Foxx and Butler is great.
This was one great movie experience. Period. Even if I were not of the age of Star Trek, even if I had no idea what these people were talking about - "Live long and prosper", this is still one excellent movie! Action, humor, great (and tastful) special effects. It was all there. Go see this movie all you Trekkies. It won't do you wrong!
