My wife and I got to see the movie before it came out and thought it was the best Star Trek movie to date. We really like how they tied in things from the original series. We like how the actors look like what the original cast might have looked like in their youth. The consistency with costume design in the original series was also a plus. The relationship between Spock and Uhura was distracting. That was not played out in the original series to my knowledge.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
