I have been a lifelong fan of the Trek franchise, with the original series influencing my interests in the sciences. My daughter grew up with TNG and became a sci-fi / fantasy writer. So, I had VERY HIGH expectations coming into this 'reboot'...
JJ and team delivered a top-notch product that felt right and provided a thrilling experience that drew me in deeply, quickly. When the end credits rolled, I had to check my watch twice; the 2 hours literally flew by at warp speed. This film just keeps on coming with the laughs, the love, the lessons. And the action!
Whether you're a seasoned fan or never watched a frame of the earlier works, give this movie a shot. It's the 'logical' thing to do.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
