Solid action packed movie

This was a solid movie for an action flick. I rate the movies based on what they are. You will not see this for the Academy and their consideration, but if you like action movies this is a good one. Story takes some strange twists and it's hard to really know who to root for, but you know who the star is so it seems logical to be on his side. I have always hated Ben Foster in the movies he has been in, but that was the character he played. Couldn't stand the guy in 3:10 to Yuma, but thats what made the movie. He was a creepy little burn out in this movie and he played it well. I think this kid is going to be a great character actor for a long time. Go see this one if you like action, not too much blood and I don't remember much if any nudity, but still not for the kiddos, but not a bad date movie if you like action.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Very cute movie, don't bring the kids

Let me first preface that I hand out stars for the type of movie, not that it's going to grab the attention of the Acedemy. This was a very cute movie. Ashton Kutcher in my opinion has worked what he does best and is slowly become in my opinion what Tom Hanks was in his early days of making films, only better content of the movie. Natalie Portman in a comedy, well it worked. She plays a stiff uptight person, and when the comedy lines are read by her, with her delivery then it makes for a good laugh. It's also just funny that Kutcher even sitting down (as in the movie poster) is nearly as tall as Porman when she is standing, but the opposites attract is what makes this movie very funny. Kevin Kline, love the guy. He can do anything, but mostly known for comedy and very glad to see him in another movie. The cast of secondaries were terrific also. Didn't recognize Cary Elwes at first, had to really look behind his beard, his role could have been expanded, but still think it worked just right even though his talents require more of a character. Go see it with the wife or husband, don't bring the kids, you will have some "splainin' to do" if you bring the kiddos.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Just as everyone says it is...

Sad, very sad. This movie was just awful. I was looking at my watch the whole time. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't even rent the movie. They threw these stars back together and came up with this? You have that sort of talent and this is all you get in return is really sad. Don't waste your money or your time. I don't even know what movie I would compare this to, insert a recent Will Farrell or Seth Rogan movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Visually stunning, but 3D not worth it.

I reluctantly went to watch Tron Legacy. I've never really been a big fan of the original Tron, but the concept was thought provoking. Tron Legacy had the underlying story of Heaven and hell, or maybe not so underlying. When you hear the dialogue about the "Father" being Jeff Bridges character, and the beard, silver hair, the way he lit up, literally, looked like it was going for a biblical message, and even the colors of the badguys looking like fire. Just an observation. I also got a sense of how it was to watch Star Wars, Close Encounters, etc, as I was a kid when all those came out. I was a bit bored by the story, but it was stunning to watch the special effect and how things have grown, but the 3D experience was not a good one in my opinion. If you are going to see it for the effects, then you need to see it on the big screen, like Avatar, it will not translate to the small screen no matter how big your flat screen is.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was "Bad Blake" on the range...

Good, not great, but entertaining overall. I felt the performance that Bridges gives is similar to the Bad Blake character from "Crazy Heart" (a much better movie and performances). The character Brolin plays was odd, and underdeveloped. The climax of the movie was boring, and the ending was anticlimactic. In between there were some good scenes, but the movie just wasn't quite enough for me. I like the main actors and frankly I thought the part that Barry Pepper played could have been brought out more as that was the true climax of the movie. Barry Pepper is a great actor who will one day win an Academy Award, so I hope this performance helps his career along.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good, not great

This movie is depressing. The performances were great. The same way I felt about watching "Precious" only not as disgusting. It is sad to see someone throw their life away on drugs, but the performance that Bale gives is Oscar worthy. Wahlberg isn't bad, but he is not a good actor in my opinion. He is likeable, bankable, etc. He brings the same monotone to each performance he does. Overall I recommend the movie, and it does have some Rocky-like characteristics in the end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

One word, Powerful

This movie is great, and the story is known, but James Francos portrayal of the real life adrenaline seeker is powerful and you feel what this person was feeling during the whole movie. You really feel like you were living it along with him. Great movie. If you are a bit squeamish then there are some points you will want to turn away, but this movie is great and you come out with a feeling and appreciation for life that this guy was feeling.

Accurate but average

I say accurate because Jake G's character showed exactly how life in pharma sales was in late 90's, but that all fell apart for the most part and the "preceptorships" don't happen anymore with todays strict guidelines and nobody would ever have a meeting where they talked about off lable uses of drugs, especially pfizer. Will say that this is what went on with reps, you were a pretty boy, or blonde with a few people who actually knew what they were doing mixed in with the bunch to make it look legit. The bottom is falling out of the industry right now.
Anne H's character, and for that matter, herself really bared it all multiple times. Sort of shocked she would risk her image with the amount of nudity she did here. don't bring the kids to this one. She was so self destructive yet looking for a cure for herself.
Bottom line I would wait for video or do the matinee.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

a little long but good and lots of suspense

The movie was over all pretty good and really there is not much out there to see right now, so if you don't want to waste your money then this is a good bet. This is not the best film I've seen this year but it was solid. It took quite awhile to get to the actual break out, and I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that, the suspense kicked in when you keep thinking "oh they are caught now" but kept twisting and turning. This is not a great movie and several holes in the story, but why do you go to movies? Every movie is not going to be a best picture nominee, so I would say it's as good as Unstoppable is, but I can't wait for some better holiday movies to come out because there are slim pickings right now.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Literally, I am not a nail biter and I bit my nails in this movie. This is not going to win any Academy Awards, but this was based on a real life incident. I like Denzel Washington, and can tell Chris Pine will make a good leading man one day if he keeps picking movies that he can work with the greats like D. Washington. Good cast, and can't say much more or will spoil it, but stick around to see how the heroes are rewarded and how the idiots are dealt with. Side personal stories of main characters are a bit weak, but this was entertaining and worth the money, well worth it. FYI don't waste the money seeing "Due Date" so far it's my stinker of the year.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
