I normally love UFO/Abduction-themed media and despite what the reviewers warned, I saw it in the theater. Maybe with a packed audience you will get some benefit of audience ambience, otherwise I say "rent it" when it comes out on DVD.
The movie itself had fast/interesting parts and slow irrelevant parts. The pacing was all over the place. A big problem for me was the importance of the main character's husband who was not filled out for the viewer making it hard to care about that relationship and significance. I wanted to like this but have to agree with the critics. 2 stars.
I found the story to be less than satisfying. There was a lack of character development especially on the human side and you end up with a shallow main character (the human "hero") who you never connect with. The humans in this just don't come across well at all.
The positives, great visuals (would have liked to have seen more of Terra). And a non-Hollywood design style. The voice acting was fine. I enjoyed seeing the new world and would like to see more.
I would recommend this movie for the alien visuals, the overall story was forgettable. Alot of the movie is about a depressing situation. Visuals and tech proficiency = 4 stars, story/plot = 2 stars, overall: 3 stars.
