As a fan faithful to the old crew, I was worried this was gonna suck but oh how I was wrong! This bunch is very well cast and brings their own flavor to their respective characters while still giving you nods to remind you what they're famous for. The only place the movie fell down for me was in the score. But it doesn't detract from the experience. The effects are off the charts for a Star Trek movie with one particular sequence of the Enterprise coming out with guns blazing that will have you on the edge of your seat! Abrams captures that sense of wonder when Bones and Kirk are approaching the Enterprise by doing the slow flyby, ala Wrath of Khan, when Kirk's shuttle arrives at Enterprise in Spacedock. Nice!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
