Or, a very good acid trip without the acid. Cameron has done it again! It's best seen in IMAX DIGITAL 3D, clearer images, awesome sound. Oh, and Sigorney Weaver (ALIENS) is in top form in a energetic performance. But, this is really an CGI/3D extravaganza folks, make no mistake. And, it's easy to see where every penny of it's reported $400 million budget went. Oh yeah, the story is decent as well.
Not that I was expecting too much out of this, and I didn't get much out of it. I thought the casting of Christian "WHAT DON'T YOU F***** UNDERSTAND" Bale, for once, was wrong. I simply did not buy him as John Connor, as I did when he was Batman/Bruce Wayne. And, that ruined it for me. I also thought that Anton Yelchin, another fine actor (who was much better as Chekov in the new STAR TREK), was irritating. As for the rest, nice effects, but no substance. Nice references to the previous three films though.
Definately the best movie-going experience I've had since STAR TREK II. I love J.J. Abrams alternate-universe senario which brings a fresh new perspective to the franchise without messing up the timelines of the previous ten. I'm going to see this one again and again.
