I went in trying not to expect much - I've been let down before w/ST movies.
This. Was. Amazing.
It really is true to the fans, yet something you can come into not knowing all the back stories and still enjoy it. Just the perfect amount of story, humor, surprises, good music and effects.
I felt the blend of suspense and relief was right on. Nothing seemed "overdone" or too "inside-joke", even though long-time fans had a lot to appreciate!
For parents - the brief SC scene is nothing to be concerned about - it was actually quite humorous.
Overall - Star Trek is BACK baby! Don't wait for the DVD - it's worth the few bucks to see it in the theatre. LIFE IS SHORT - GO SEE TREK!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
