This movie was really poorly done. The racing sequences were totally unbelieveable. It was all skidding - constantly. It looked more like motocross racing. The race tracks were like wide elevated Hot Wheels tracks. There was very little road racing. Nothing looked at all realistic. I mean, come on, you've got to make it somewhat believeable. The cars looked cool, but that's about it. The action was too "in your face". Way over done. The Mach 5 looked great, but had a very small part in the film. What's up with that? I was a big fan of the cartoon as a child. The Mach 5 - WAS the show. The whole movie should have centered around the Mach 5, not the Mach 6! Save the Mach 6 for the 3rd sequel. I doubt this film will have any sequels at all. For years I wished that someone would make a live action movie of Speed Racer. They blew it. I'm very disappointed. This was not "Speed Racer". My 10 year old son did like it a lot - go figure. Not for adults that grew up with the cartoon though. The story itself (particularly "Racer-X") was pretty true to the cartoon, but I would definately not recomend this film.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
