I was so excited to see this movie, because I was fascinated by the book. It was so true to the actual historical life of Abraham Lincoln that it made me believe these acts were truly a part of his life. As others have said, this movie had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the book, with the exception of using a character named Abraham Lincoln. This was a disappointment to me, as I did LOVE the book. However, once I got past the "this is not how it went in the book" phase...this is a really fun, and unusual, action-adventure movie, with a tiny bit of history weaved in. Maybe this excellent movie will prompt more people to actually read the book and learn a bit more about our amazing 16th President along the way!
Pros well paced, great actors, good story, new and fun
Cons not for young'uns -peeps who brought your 6 yr old
This is a really good movie, if you are looking for a mindless laugh. Don't expect Oscar award winning scenes, but if you are out for a night of good clean fun, this is the one for you! Great cast brings continual laughs throughout the entire movie, ends up with a decent plot and even a good moral lesson.
I was expecting this movie to be a transition, similar to the 2nd Lord of the Rings movie - brief explanations and random new plot lines - but was plesantly surprised. They could have made the movie a bit longer and given us more detail, but over all, exciting action and good banter between Edward and Jacob. The fact that Jacob was without a shirt most of the movie didn't hurt any either! :oD
It took a while for the characters to develop, but the plot was very well written and believeable.
Once the actions started it was a sit on the edge of your seat kind of action movie, without being too much of a man's movie. Liam Neeson played a dad who would do anything to get his daughter back safely.
After the movie was over, I did wonder who they really wanted to play the dad's role, because Liam doesn't seem to be the super stud action hero that I would imagine in this type of role. He did a good job of stepping out of his usual role that made me appreciate his talents even more.
