Fun film but...

Very fun, action packed movie that reboots the franchise from day 1 without adding anything significant to the universe of Star Trek. In fact, the Star Trek universe we knew is destroyed and we are never given a good reason for this new alternate reality. Working with a license like Star Trek, you don't get to make it your own. You can only add to it. It's bigger than you. The problem with this film is that it wouldn't have made half the money it did if it didn't say Star Trek in the title. So while J.J.Abrams rides firmly on Gene Roddenberry's coat tails, he is urinating all over his grave and the license.
But it was ACTION PACKED and sexy!
