I really don't know what all the hype was when it came to this movie.... The first 2/3rds of the movie draged on, and it only became interesting towards the end when things finally came together. The movie was 2 hours and 15 minutes long (But seemed longer!). You think that there's going to be more to this movie when it starts, but then you realize that the whole movie revolves around one act in the movie. I think this movie has lasted in the movie theatres as long as it has given that tthere isn't much competion from other independent films at the moment. I'm a big fan of foreign flicks, but I'd say pass on this one........
I saw this movie in IMAX in Columbia, MD with my wife. I'm not a Treky, but I did think the movie was pretty good. The first half was a little dull, but it got interesting by the middle and throughout the second half of the movie. I'm sure you'll love the movie if you're a fan of Star Trek, and if you're not a fan of the series I think you'll most likely like this movie as well.
I highly recomend that you see this movie on IMAX! Seeing it on a regular screen won't do the movie justice. My wife and I thought the effects were incredible and I must say that the effects make up 75% of the experience. The story line is good, but it's more of an introduction into an up and coming sequel. I recomend going, but only if you see it on IMAX!
