My family, including my granddaughter loved the film. It was exquisite to watch and had a wonderful story to tell. My granddaughter is a big fan of the book and thought the movie was even better.

Great fun, Great singing

The three leads (as well as some of the lesser leads) were all in excellent voice for this wonderful production. I have never seen this opera before (nor heard the music). It was great fun even though a bit campy in execution and I found myself laughing out loud several times. The music was delightful. If you missed it go to see the encore. Picture and sound were just fine at my theater--there was one 2 second blip in the transmission. A minor incident.

I saw Anna Netrebko's performance in the HD transmission a couple of years ago, but I think that this performance was the most outstanding Lucia ever. Ms. Dessay's voice is matched by such a tremendous acting ability that I was literally blown away. I had never heard Mr. Calleja sing before, and found the sweetness and range of voice wonderful. I am actually thinking of going again to see this HD transmission in encore. If you missed it, make every effort to see the encore--you will never regret it.

I was not familiar with this Puccini work and came away disappointed. The work lacked the usual musicality and beautiful arias I normally associate with Puccini. The cast was very talented and certainly did their best with the score.

My friend and I agreed that this was the most fun we've had watching an opera ever. The music and performances were outstanding, but the charm and comedic timing of the singers was so delightful, that we hope this encores again over the summer series. Don't miss it!
